First Impression.

“I fight with love and I laugh with rage….you gotta live light enough to see the humor, and long enough to see some change…”  ~Ani DiFranco

Let me introduce myself.

  • I’m 33 yrs young with a much older soul.
  • Two little people call me Momma – my sassy 5yo and almost 2yo little man.  Both teach me, test me, humble me and make me nuts usually in a five minute time span.
  • I’m sarcastic, out spoken and funny on my best days.
  • I had a map of how my life was “supposed” to look by now and that has gone out the window.  Thank God for that.
  • I started this blog as a way to clear my head. Somehow, it is morphing in to a life change.
  • Some of my writing is a result of being a survivor of too many ugly events in my life, but a desire to incorporate it into something that makes the pain and dysfunction worth something.
  • The rest of my writing is random, humorous takes on being a woman, being Momma and this crazy world spinning all around me.

  1. “I always capitalize the word Mom. I’m not saying all Moms are equivalent to God, but I do know this crazy world couldn’t keep spinning without us both.”

This made me laugh out loud. Also profoundly true. 🙂

      1. Haha, no problem! I think it’s nice to know a little more about the person with whom one may disagree with (esp about highly contentious issues), so we don’t let the point of contention define our view of who they are. 🙂

      2. So wise of you…thanks for not holding my views against me. I hesitated to respond because of that but I’m trying to “speak up” a little more these days.

    1. Wow. I can’t thank you enough. You have taken time to read, offer thoughts and support me on this journey since the beginning. It’s appreciated so much. A true kindred spirit. You’re awesome!

  2. You just said everything to Mr. 666 about hookers that I wanted to say, but it wouldn’t let me reply to you. So just know someone agrees with you. I can’t believe people think like that.

    1. Thank you! I feel bad for going off on him on the Hooks page but I couldn’t not. What an ass. Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one highly offended by that.

  3. All week I’ve been trying to read that toddler post, but you describe the humility that goes hand in hand with annoyance and impatience so perfectly. This has been my reality. The kid is finally in daycare and I get to read, comment and share. Loved this introduction to Dawn. It’s wonderful.

  4. Helloooooo

Just thought I’d let you know I’m writing an article about blogging mummies for the Spring issue of Mums and Tots – the lovely Irish magazine that I write for. I’ve chosen my top five blogs and you’re one of them. The magazine has a circulation of 17K issues, so hopefully we’ll get a few new readers! Yeah! :0)

    1. Olivia that just made my day. Seriously, I can’t tell you how ridiculous I look with this goofy grin on my face right now. Thank you so much and I am humbled that you would think of me for a top five. Thank you. Thank you. ~Dawn

      1. Just snuck in a moment to check out the Mums and Tots magazine online and landed on their Facebook page. I love it. I definitely feel the love and humor over there.

      2. They’re a nice bunch. They want the magazine to support mothers in very aspect of parenting which they do very well. I write for the flip-page magazine so it won’t be online but I’ll put it on my blog as soon as the mag goes on sale – should be march 1st.

  5. Oh my goodness! What an incredible blog you’ve created! I need much more time than I have now (with children whining in my ear for their version of “dinner”) so I am making a date to come back here tonight when my insomnia hits (right on schedule) to do some major binge reading. For now, lemme just say I LOVE that you capitalize Mom!

    1. Thank you so very much. I have spent all day with booger-y children and a sinus headache. Very little has made me smile today and you just did 🙂

      Binge reading…I love that!

  6. My Dear, liked Your style of writing, and the contents. All this from Your Introduction! You keep it Short and Sweet, (hopefully in Your other writing too), and I like that. I would like to write like that, but…! And, next time, give me Your name. I hate it when I do not have people’s name. Love and Regards.

    1. Thank you soooo very much. I’m flattered. I have to be honest in saying, I have such limited time to actually blog, I don’t know that I will have time to follow through with the requirements of this award. I am going to try though!! I did give you a shout out on my FB page though!! 🙂 Thanks again. I really enjoy following you along as well.

      1. You’re welcome. Blogging is certainly time consuming and I completely understand if you choose not to do the whole formal acceptance thing! I really enjoy you’re blog and wanted to share that with others.

      2. I really appreciate it. I truly do! With the kids, I only have a short one hr nap and then after bed time to write/read/comment. Thanks for understanding. Blog on Momma!!!!

  8. I love your blog, it’s very nice to meet you. You happen to be the first Mommy-blogger I’ve followed, for my own petty reasons and untrue misconceptions, I’m sure. But yours definitely is worth the follow. I love all the posts I’ve read so far! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much. I’m never offended if someone refers to me as a Mommy blogger but I don’t refer to myself that way. My kids and being a Mother is a huge part of my life and writing but not always the focus. It wouldn’t really be for me if it was. Glad your checking out old posts. I love to see the dust get brushed off them once in a while.

      1. Your writing is about so much more, that’s what makes it so very enjoyable. 🙂 Your blog has multiple domains, and I love them all. 🙂

  9. What a great post for me to land on first! I’ll be clicking through all of those links soon so I can REALLY get to know you as a Woman, Mom, and Writer. Looking forward to it!

    1. Shane, I just saw this comment! It made my day 🙂 Sorry for the untimely response… freakin’ life gets in the way of blogging lately.

    1. Girl, you are so sweet! Thank you. I do accept and will try my best to follow through with the “rules”. I have limited time these days but I’ll try my best. Thank you again!

    1. You’re awesome. I can’t thank you enough for this. We are so in awe at the support we are receiving. Clicking on that orange glowing notification thingy and seeing this made my morning. It made managing my out-of-his-mind toddler until I could respond just a little bit easier. 😉

    1. Hello, expressiveponderer! Thank you so much, that is so thoughtful and truly appreciated. I unfortunately have little time to give to writing so following through with award nominations are tough for me. Your words were very kind and so nice to hear my work is relatable to you. Much love ~ Dawn
